Unified Tae Kwon-Do for Children

All parents are concerned with their children developing good concentration, positive attitudes, courtesy, and discipline. Unified Tae Kwon-Do reinforces these characteristics by teaching in a positive manner. As a result, children take pride in their accomplishments and therefore gain a new confidence in themselves.

Tae Kwon-Do was developed many years ago for adult Korean men. As Tae Kwon-Do spread throughout the world it was discovered to be an excellent method of developing coordination, self-discipline, self-confidence, respect, flexibility and fitness in children. At Unified Tae Kwon-Do we continue this tradition through setting goals and making it the responsibility of the student to do what it takes to reach that goal. It is this type of responsibility that will make your child a productive member of society as an adult.

Develops Self-Discipline

Self-Discipline is at the top of the list when parents are asked what they would like for their children to get out of the Martial Arts. Encouraging the student to do the techniques correctly, to follow the rules of the Do-Jang, to use control during sparring teaches a child how to discipline him or herself. This discipline will allow that child to perform well in other activities: school, scouting, sports, music, and later, college and careers.

Increases Self-Confidence

Our program has many opportunities to build self-confidence. Finally being able to do that difficult kick, controlling their emotions after winning or losing at a tournament, having lower belts and younger children show respect by looking up to them are just a few of these opportunities.

Self-Respect

Imagine the damage of not having self-discipline and self-confidence. The lack of self-respect can create problems from being bullied to teen pregnancy. Our program puts children on a path of lifetime self-respect. They develop the "Yes I can!" attitude. Children walk with their chin up, cultivate their principles and mature into the leaders of tomorrow.

Improves Coordination

All children go through phases of awkwardness. Unified Tae Kwon-Do exercise increases balance, grace, and coordination on both right and left sides. Children jump, kick, break boards... Through movement children's coordination improve their other sporting and scholastic activities.

Promotes Mental Awareness

When children first come into the school their mind is focused on what is going on around them. The process of discovering the correct form of a technique, (Where does my hand go? What are my feet doing?) brings about self-awareness.  A sense of right and wrong. Through working with others, children become more acute to their surroundings and aware of dangers around them.

Enhances Flexibility and Fitness

As students progress in rank, and become more physically fit, the exercises become more fun and complex. Students and parents report that Tae Kwon-Do is a terrific supplement to other sports, keeping the children active and fit during off seasons of baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. However, Tae Kwon-Do is not just for natural athletes! It will greatly improve any child's fitness and flexibility. They're having so much fun that they don't know its work!
